The computer-based examination (CBT) for the ITI Electrician trade is typically conducted after the practical examination. In this CBT, candidates are asked a total of 75 multiple-choice questions, and these questions are worth a total of 150 marks.
The ITI Electrician 1st year CBT is divided into two parts: 1. Trade Theory and 2. Employability Skills.
- Trade Theory: In ITI Electrician Trade Theory, the total marks are 100. Candidates will be asked 50 online questions, which will be in multiple-choice format. To pass this subject, a candidate must score a minimum of 33 marks. Out of these 50 questions, 38 questions are related to theory, 6 questions are from engineering drawing, and 6 questions are from workshop calculation and science.
- Employability Skills: In the ITI Employability Skills exam, candidates will be asked a total of 25 questions, and these questions are worth a maximum of 50 marks. To pass this subject, candidates need to score a minimum of 17 marks.

Pass Regulation:
- For six-month and one-year duration courses, the overall result is determined based on 100% weightage.
- For two-year courses, 50% weightage is applied to each examination.
- The minimum pass percentage for Trade Practical and Formative assessment is 60%, while for all other subjects, it is 33%.

Assessment Guidelines:
- Special needs and individual circumstances should be considered to ensure that there are no artificial barriers to assessment.
- Assessment should take into account factors such as teamwork, scrap/wastage reduction, disposal procedures, behavioral attitude, environmental sensitivity, and regularity in training.
- Competency assessment should consider factors like Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (OSHE) awareness and a self-learning attitude.
- Assessment should be evidence-based and may include various components such as:
- Job performance in labs/workshops
- Maintaining a record book or daily diary
- Answer sheets from assessments
- Viva-voce (oral examination)
- Progress chart tracking trainee’s progress
- Attendance and punctuality records
- Assignments completed
- Project work undertaken
- Computer-based multiple-choice question examinations
- Practical examinations
